Al-Mada’in Campus
Convinced that the intrinsic qualities of the chosen site can play an active and positiverole in the development of young girls, victims of the succession of dramatic events in
Iraq, we have articulated our proposal around two major axes:

Around the yard
Two functional volumes are located at the ends of the site to preserve all the existing trees and to generate a space where community life can flourish. These volumes keep
in close contact with the palm trees, Tigris River, and the green agricultural/rural area. The simplicity of the ground floor plan, when cut transversally, allows us to have, three
distinct situations.

1. Meditation and gardening zone where children can participate and learn agricultural activities.

2. Allows games between classes where children can benefit from palm shadows

3. Directedly connected with the Tigris Rivers. The community center where children can practice sports or organize events

Living in the treetops

In our project, the living space is essential for the positive development of these young girls. All the apartments contact directly with the top of the trees and each apartment is organized with a double- height and orientation part.
With this response, we believe the sanctuary will become a place of psychological rehabilitation, with the help of culture, community and nature.
